The southern beaches
Beach shacks, boutique blocks, and the cafe strip.
Palm Beach has changed fast — the old beach shacks are being renovated or replaced by boutique apartment blocks, and the Nineteenth Avenue and Jefferson Lane strip has turned into one of the busiest cafe precincts on the southern Coast. The housing is a real mix: beachside apartments, freshly done-up beach houses, and older units toward the Tallebudgera Creek end.
The apartment blocks mostly have a lift, so we book it with the manager ahead of time and take early-morning slots so the truck is loaded before the cafe strip and the beach traffic build up. The older beach houses get floor protection and stair-runners, and we are used to the tight side-access some of them have.
There is a steady churn of downsizers and short-let investors here too, so we are comfortable with tag-and-load moves where some furniture stays and some goes.
